I’m a bit off balance just now and grip is slipping in lots of ways but I’m just about hanging on in there.  This may go some way to explaining the randomness of this blog!!!

Today I took out some of my frustration on some poor inocent weeds that were  in my veggie plot.  Now, if I had been thinking, I would have taken before and after pics, but I wasn’t, so I didn’t so you can’t see just hwo vicious I got!  I did feel a little better afterwards though, and I do now have quite a bit of bare soil to rotovate manure into ready for my veggies!

I also dried 3 loads of washing so we all have clean clothes!  Phew!  Oh, and did the shopping that I just could not face doing on Friday so we now have such luxuries as milk and bread although I don’t have a lot of idea about menus for hte week as the rest of the shopping was alarmingly random.

This evening Aprilia has again insisted on maths before bed.  She rattled through another full section of the book, on place value, with only one major difficulty - the concept of "before" and "after" seem to be slightly alien to her.  In fact, on further investigation, many of these "time scale things" seem to have passed her totally by.  This is one of those times when she totally floors me.  But it does explain why she struggles so much with sequencing and with the passage of time in general, they really do not mean a thing to her.  Hmmmm.

I also realised yesterday that if one needs smaller jeans then, in all probablility one needs smaller smalls!  This was a step in logic that had totally passed me by until I had to run down the side of a race track and felt an alarming degree of drooping going on…. and was instantly grateful that I wear trousers on duty not a skirt…… :o ps:

  1. giggle at the drooping.

Know what you mean about sequencing, it’s not a skill that Small has acquired at all. The maths paper he did today wanted to know which day came after Tuesday and he didn’t have the first idea.

  2. There’s a difference though, isn’t there Jax, between simply learning the order of the days of the week, and grasping sequencing? I mean, Buttercup could probaly name all 7, but still can’t get them all in the right order, but I don’t think she has any problems with actually understanding that sort of thing.

Some nice clear number lines, time lines, etc, perhaps for Aprilia? I have to draw lots of number lines for my GCSE students :)

Needing smaller clothes must feel good :)

  3. yes, am planning on LOTS of visual learning this year! I wish I had a few ££ spare so I could buy some ready made PECS stuff for her to get the idea of routines and order etc but I can’t justify it so I shall probably end up making a project of it, work in a bit of IT skills for her making them etc and see what we can come up with. She definitely needs a bit of a clue on these things!

  4. rofl at the undies! I have a couple of pairs that can only be worn under trousers and sometimes forget. The whole day is so stressful then, hoiking them up all the time!

  5. PMSL at the knickers!
When I was about 10, I was walking home from church and realised that my knicker elastic had gone. I was wearing a skirt. Despite repeatedly tugging at them, by the time I got home they were so loose that they promptly fell down around my knees…..
