busy bits and bobs

today we nipped up to Duke’s mum to pick up some crafty bits dhe decided she didn’t want after all, on the way back we grabbed a flea collar for Whiskers (and successfully put it on her, she must be mellowing!) then, flushed with the success of putting a collar on without losing any fingers we watched Merlin and dashed off to the violin lesson.  Spent a lot of time talking to one of the other mums who was vaguely concerned that her dd was Dyxie, having compared notes I recommended she  had a think if it really mattered if her dd was dyslexic or not as she home educates and thus doesn’t have the pressure to deal with words in the same way and tried to explain the foibles of it like the poor short term memory etc that don’t really stand out as being part of a condition which means "dificulty with owrds" but which are really the parts that cause the most trouble.  Stayed for tea there then dashed again because I needed to be at Red Cross tonight to repeat the assessment I messed up the other week.  How come the re-test scenarios are always really, really easy and the initial ones so damned hard????  Also found time to do a Christmas pressie order on the net which has covered most of what I need to get without a single rainy shopping trip.  There was some brief excursions into learning but in a scattered sort of way.  No idea what this week is going to bring but i do know it needs to include an excavation of sevearl floors…..

out and about

Saturday morning was KF as usual with the extra added surprise of one of her HE friends turning up too..  We had to dash straigt off afterwards so taht we could change and head to Nantwich to pick up two of the WellyBooters and then headed Off the Path.  It was rather lovely to have 3 giggle girls in my car!  I spent a few hours there being sociable and vaguely useful before being dismissed by Little Miss Independent.  Got half way down the road and realised I still had car booster seats in the back, went back and delivered them…. sigh, one day I may be organised but then again, why?

Did feel really odd to be leaving her there though!  It was her first "proper" without Mummy and miles away from home sleepover adn I was sort of nervous that she would suddenly decide she wanted me at Silly O’clock.  Naturally she coped with the whole thing significantly better than me….. I really don’t remember giving her permission to grow up this fast you know!

Got home just in time to change into Red Cross uniform and head off to a firework display which was very good but had the rather unexpected added attraction of low flying startled ducks - and they hurt if they fly into you apparently!

Yesterday I was at Wombwell with Harley and Rick, not terribly exciting but they are good company and we even managed to stay awake all day (ambulance napping is a required part of the training syllabus you understand….)  We’ve just got a new ambi so we spent most of the day working out how it all works.  It’s very nice but we decided that we need a separate volume control for the radio in the back as the right volume for Harley seemed a tad too loud for me and Rick.  Still, we’ve never had radio in teh back before so we aren’t going to complain!  I did have to giggle though when Rick was telling me all about a programme he had watched at Silly O’Clock (he has chronic insomnia) about Red Pandas and Honey Badgers and I suddenly realised he’d been watching Aprilia’s fave episode of Roar (as in kid’s wildlife prog!)

Got back by about 6pm to find Duke and Aprilia not home yet which kind of bothered me as he was supposed to pick her up just after lunch and really it shouldn’t take 4 or 5 hours to get home from there even allowing for the diversion via Nantwich…. turns out that the diversion via Nantwich required close inspection of the girls’ bedroom on Aprilia’s part and for Duke to do his Pied Piper bit and instantly attract the youngest WellyBooter who insisited on being thoroughly cuddled.  Real Babe magnet my husband you know…. good job the kind of babes he attracts are of the small nappy wearing variety!

She was totally worn out by the time she was home and really quite irrational with it all until she had had a good wail, then she settled down fine    I suspect she was asleep before Mr Fry had read more than half a chapter to her.
