Only I could celebrate a birthday like this!
Glossing over the fact that I didn’t remember it was my birthday today until Jax reminded me (!) what did I do? Hmmmm not a lot really! Helped Jax strike the tent, along with much joint mutterings about the quality of what should be an excellent tent - Vango make decent tents as a rule but sadly the really seem to have dropped the ball on this one, shame really. Anyway, all children seemed to be in fragile moods but held it together for the most part, the adults seems marginally less fragile, which may have been down to the wine and may have been down to the lack of sleep but actually I think we were just feeding off the offsprings’ grouchiness
After waving goodbye to Jax and co we wombled off to the library to drop off 2 reading challenge books and casually enquire if there were any goodies other than the stickers (the first year there were pencils, bookmarks and other such cheap tat that enchants small children) only to be told taht there was a bookmark when you finish then the presentation evening for the certificate and medal. Aprilia was much dissapointed. Pencils mean a lot to you when you only have one HUGE tray full of them obviously……
After that is was just a chilled afternoon in the garden finished off with a trip to the shops to try to replace my baking tray (the orange one that has accompanied me on many a Melrose trip to ensure sufficient calories are forced upon the Grown Ups to compensate for any extra excercise taht may have occurred
) We didn’t find one, but got a fairly acceptable alternative and had birthday tea at Little Chef on the way home, gee I know how to live don’t I!
Tomorrow we are off to the Beans and hoping Aprilia holds it together better than she has the last few days but packing emergency comfort providers just in case!

Did you know today is the day they commemorate the behaeding of John the Baptist? I so disliked seeing that every year on the calendar–especially as it coincided with my birthday! Happy Birthday to you! (Can you tell I was raised as a Catholic?)
