tattered nerves
Aprilia spotted my tatting shuttle this morning and so decided that, after having almost made a sock baby (it’s currently arm-less cos the need to cuddle it grew too strong before the poor thing was finished!) she *needed* to have a tatting lesson. Now, you have to understand something here….. I love my daugter to bits but I also can see her foibles, mainly because she shares most of them with me…. and my shuttle isn’t a dainty little thing, and actually, until you get the hang of it, tatting is a fiddly business. Her fingers were just too wretched small to manage the shuttle but she was in one of her doggedly determined moods which meant that I spent rather a long time today showing, and re-showing her how to do it, undoing bits she had got wrong, and finally finishing off a teeny tiny butterfly for her. My patience was fast running away out of the building.
I finally managed to bribe her with extra, extra Harry if we could put the shuttle down and have a story time. The final story haul came to 5 chapters of Half Blood Prince, 2 of Follow my Leader, 3 of Lemony Snicket’s Slippery Slope, 2 of The Dolphins of Laurentum ( Roman Mysterys) and 2 of Muddle Earth. My brain feels like it has been pushed through a grinder, I know I will miss these marathon story fests when she is big and it’s no longer cool to have mum read but oh my!
