T-Bird Anni Rides Again

deep breath…

I e-mailed the tutor adn wobbled at him about not being able to do this next TMA in time and he’s given me an extension with no time limit on it - he’s also aparently a dyslexic and thus knows all about time pressure being a bad thing when it comes to getting anything done!  So that’s the imediate pressure off and thus the essay will probably be done in the next few days, a section at a time, because when I get a grip on myself and start looking at just doing a bit, not all of it, it’s managable!  I’ve gone through the essay and guidance with a find tooth comb, got it read out to me, highlighted bits… I’ve not missed anything this time, there’s just so much text to wade through to find the answers in the course books so it’s going to take me a little while.

After that I need to start getting a grip on the rest of the course.  I’m more than half way through so jacking it in would be a little silly really (although it’s tempting!)  I’ve dug out my old and fairly decrepit laptop and I’m going to transfer the pdfs of the books onto that and load up Read Please which is a nice, free, small programme that will read out for you.  Not as good as the software on the main PC but good enough that I can study anywhere within reach of a plug (the battery is dead, I’m not paying £££ for a new battery, I’m planning on replacing it at some point!!!)  That removes one excuse.

I am going to tell Aprilia that I am going to let her watch TV for an hour every day so that I can study every day.  She will hold me to this you can be quite sure!  That will give me time not only to keep up but also, hopefully, to go backwards and make some attempt at note taking for the first half of the course to give me something to revise from.

As soon as the Red Cross pay me (they forgot last month    ) I’m going to order all the past papers for the course so I can see what sort of exam questions you get, what crops up most often, etc.  Then I can make various different mind maps to cover themes, time lines or whatever.

But actually what I am going to really go all out on is getting the downstairs presentable so I can book me a study skills tutor!  I think really I need one you know……. and I don’t mind lugging the PC downstairs if that’s what it takes!  And really, you know, I’m at home all day, I should be able to at least keep a clear path round the downstairs shouldn’t I?

  1. I find its the being home all day thats the problem! Tidy it once, move the computer then move out until the tutor comes to see you! Well done for sounding like you’re getting a grip on it.
