wondering if a plan may help?
Next week is going to be busy. I have lots of stuff to do. I also have a few ideas wondering round the cotton wool that calls itself my head. I suspect that a plan may help so…. The stuff I have to do….
Today
Collect Aprilia at 11:30, fetch her home, hose her down (actually, it’s only been one night, how bad can she be….) cough, actually she was covered to the waist in bolognaise stains….
Deliver Father’s Day pressie to Dad - not done, I have a large adn very tired Brownie….
Wednesday
Cheshire Show, manning (or is it womaning?) the Guides stand with Aprilia (note to self, make sure her uniform is clean-ish! Oh and I’d better check mine too…)
Stuff that is loosely planned for Monday - Friday
Duke is off work. We were originally going to be camping but it didnt’ happen so we are attacking the garden instead.
The rotorvator is coming on Tuesday all being well so I need to make sure that as much stuff is cleared off the garden before then and the compost is emptied out as we are moving the container
The bean dome needs dismantling. Out of the 10 beans I set going in jars only 2 have got going, usually we get a full 10 but these were a different strain and I suspect that they didn’t like being watched! It’s too late now to just plant out beans in the garden and hope the slugs don’t munch them as they pop up and you don’t need a beandome for 2 plants. next year I won’t be waiting for a rotovator before I can get things going and one yer without more runner beans than you can possibly eat won’t kill us!
Once the garden is all churned up we need to set to with garden sieves and try to weed out as many horsetail rooty bits as possible before patting it all flat and either seeding it with whatever grass mix is cheap at the garden centre or turfing it if we can lay hands on some cheaply.
I need to hunt down the cordless phone. The phone has been AWOL for weeks but the "ah well, it will turn up" tactic isn’t working so I need to up the game a little. I was also planning on hunting down my housekeys but, having been sur the last time I saw them was Tuesday night, I suddenly remembered, whilst typing that I locked the door on Wednesday when we went to Rainbows…. and yes, thre they were in the Rainbows box (blush…Duke spent an hour lsat night looking for them!)I need to sit down and bring the Rainbow accounts up to date.
And on the subject of Rainbows, I need to buy a fleece blanket for our leaver so she has somewhere to sew all her badges that she earned with us. Oh, and I need to sort out cakes etc for her party too!
Stuff floating round in my head
I want to get some stuff planned to make Rainbows easier! I’m looking at maybe making a grand plan for a full year’s worth of activities and putting together bags with everything I need for a meeting in it ready so that I can avoid the headless chicken syndrome that sets in and also the "oh sod it, do a craft" answer to not having the slightest idea what I was supposed to be doing!
Thre are a few activity packs I want to put together. They would require either that I get my embroidery machine going or that I get someone to make badges.
One is stolen unashamedly from the US "Daisy Scouts" which are the US version of Rainbows. They get petals for activities on a specific theme to make a daisy on their uniform relating to the promise and law of Girl Scouting. I was thinking of using the sew on promise badge for an activity relating to their promise and then something like the Rainbows logo broken down into coloured pieces for Guide related themes. Not as easy to do with our logo as the Daisy one but I’ll never know if I don’t try.
The other two are for disability awareness and for visiting or being visited by the Emergency Services. I sort of thoguth of them being like jigsaws that you add a patch to for every section so maybe a central 999 with 3 bits you can add round the edge with fire, ambo and police themed pictures to complete the picture. Again, complicated badges so would cost unless I do them…. I’m just concious that the Rainbow badges are fairly lack lustre!
I need to get to grips on some sort of routine for housework (but then that’s not news is it.) I hate to admit it but when I "do" Flylady it really does make a difference, I just can never sustain the momentum for more than a few months then it slides. Mainly because the whole having a "Control Journal" book doesn’t work for me, I need to make something more visual and have it somewhere visible! And I need to beat my child into submission about putting her stuff away, but then, if I just got on her case a little bit rather than realising at 9pm that I’d sent her to bed without asking hr to put stuff away first it would probably help.
I need to do some meal planning and, possibly, some mass preparation in the way of cutting and freezing spuds and onions etc in the right sort of ammounts for meals like corned beef hash that are dead cheap but we can never be bothered preparing cos the cutting up takes so long!
I need to lay down the law about me needing time to study.
I need to lay down the law with myself about not aimlessly surfing and actually doing some study.

well, when you’re (wo)manning your stall, I bet you actually speak to ppl who stop at it, unlike the scout stall at Honley show yesterday when they were all too busy talking to each other to talk to me - I couldn’t even get to the stand to look at a leaflet! Not impressed. Not sure that our Brownies is working out you see, so considering alternatives

shame Brownies isn’t working, have you thought of St John Badgers if it’s available Jax? Or even, visiting a different Brownie pack to see if it’s jsut that pack?

” got on her case a little bit rather than realising at 9pm that I’d sent her to bed without asking hr to put stuff away first it would probably help.”

Rotavating horsetail up into lots of bits sounds like asking for trouble.

Vicki - no, didn’t get soaked, we were inside the stand and it dried up nicely before we had our wander round and go on the Ferris Wheel. Shame you were so close and we still managed not to meet up!
