huh?
Wilst trying to pretend to do an essay I drifted over to the OU forums for a bit of company in my misery! There was a thread taht caught my eye on the home ed forum so I nosied over to look. It was a debate about school vs home ed and seemed to be populated entirely by women with children in primary school assuring us eejits that school isn’t so bad once they get used to it you know…. Its all I can do to stop myself commenting along the lines of scuse me? this is the HOME ED forum, not the school apreciation society, BUTT OUT! One of them had also replied to a question about a possibly dyslexic child saying the child should be assessed/tested (parent hadn’t asked about the wisdom of testing or not testing, was asking a specific question to teh moderator who happens to be a teacher) as otherwise they wouldn’t be able to access specialist help and wouldn’t understand why they were different from other children etc. Because of course, we all know how much specialist help there is available for home edders don’t we and all our kids spend all their time together comparing how well they did in their last reading test so having a label at a nice young age is so essential isn’t it……. grump.
