great day, not so great trip home
Had a lovely day at Wombwell watching the karts racing although tehre was some snitching on teenage boys for not only carrying on racing under waved yellows, but racing and overtaking under waved yellows when my mates were track side….. you don’t do that, especially not when my mates are out there risking their necks to look after one of your mates……. They all got the telling off of their little lives by the organisers.
Then we headed home and ground to a halt on the Woodhead. Now, I have no idea what the accident stats are for that road but would it mean anything if I said that in November on our way to S Yorks there was a car shiny side down on the road, in December there was a box van hanging off the road (and I do mean hanging, only the front wheels hooked over the dry stone wall had stopped it plunging into the reservoir!) and this time it was what looked to be a fatal between a motorbike and a car at a particularly vile junction. Not nice. Makes you glad not to be in the police force, I’d not like to make that house call.
Am back across the same route in the morning, and just to add spice to the journey it’s my triannual driving assessment.
