The educational value of the DS
I really do love Big Brain Academy you know! Today she has done geometry (the analyse sessions with shapes), reasoning (a whole heap of sessions do that part) and maths (she even attempted the one where you get the sums in words) Then she played a real "board game" of Boggle Junior which sort of covered spelling (we shall gloss over the trantrum when she couldn’t remember which way round a "d" is and wasn’t willig to make a guess shall we
) She also did a nice chunk of reading and a bit of copy work, took great interest in the SL read alouds whilst alternating between walking backwards on the treadmill, rolling round on the gym ball and wobbling on the board and watched The Sound of Music so I’ll call her educated for the day
We didn’t get around to her playing on my overlocker but I did finally get round to converting her now thoroughly outgrown favourite pair of jeans into a shoulder bag for her. She looks very retro chic with it slung across her.
We didn’t go shopping, I’m waiting for a delivery from the on-line Guiding shop but it didn’t come. If it doesn’t arrive tomorrow I’m going to have to trail off to our local depot and hope they ahve the bits I urgently need. Grrrr, ordered ages ago, got one part last week but not the rest although I’m assured it was sent out the same day as the other part (why? wouldn’t putting it all in one box be better???) I could have got my local depot to order it all in for my by now if I’d known it would take this long. ho hum.
Rounded the day off by dipping my toe into my new course materials so I’m all set up ready to go with it now. Shame the CD-ROM isn’t compatable with screen reader software - call me a lazy bounder but I like Microsoft Sam reading out stuff for me!
