Well, that went well then
I spent some time today getting ready for Rainbows, planning a craft taht would take 15 or 20 mins (and ended up taking half an hour - they enjoyed it and made loads of effort with it), checking I had stuff for the girls joining and the girls making their promise. Then we went over to A’s to do "Wednesday Crafts" which is a new institution and a bit on A’s part to structure L’s week. Great fun, well, me and A had fun, I assume the kids did….
Stories in the afternoon interspersed with HP5, those chapters are ridiculously long, I’ve been breaking one up into 4 or 5 sections to keep it managable. Also some time gazing at the clock poster with her puzzling over how there an be a time such as 25 past when the numbers stop at 12. Think we will leave that to sink in for a few weeks and try again
Then she Big Brain Acadamied (which I count as school work) whilst I house-worked and we actually managed to leave on time for Rainbows.
3 new girls joined, 1 that is a wonderfully oldfashioned, almost prim little thing, one who was instantly in the thick of it and the little girl from next door who was terribly nervous. It’s the first thing she has ever done that her brothers haven’t done before her or with as her, she is really diddy for her age and she just looked like a wide eyed toddler clinging to her mum. Mind you, Becca took her firmly in hand, cuddled her into submission and an hour later her mum practically had to drag her out.
2 girls made their promises. One was really ready and up for it, the other, having said she wanted to suddenly got cold feet and went all shy. Now, I’m used to "kidology" - lets face it, I feed my child cod liver oil as "brain medicine" which instantly improved her reading….. - so I suggested taht wilst A skipped up one side of the arch she might like to skip with me up the other side… then skip up the middle and meet me again at the other end where all the girls said their promise together with A and B and hey presto she got a shiney new badge and all was well
Life is good, I can smell coffee wafting up the stairs so it’s time to log off
