How to sort out your yarn stash and teach your child maths!
Okay, I have (or rather had) yarn scattered to the four corners of the house and I also had a child who didn’t quite "get" bar charts/ pictographs. So….. I gathered it all up, threw a large blanket down on the floor and we sorted it into lines along the blanket. First by how thick it felt (which demonstrated that we had more of the thinner "DK" yarn than the thicker "chunky") then by un-used balls vs opened and part used ones (showing that I have a lot of single, part used balls that won’t be a lot of use for any decent sized projects) and finally by general colour groups which was perhaps the only "real" graph as opposed to sorting into 2 groups. So now I know how much yarn I have in each colourway and I have a daughter who understands how pictographs work! Result!!!
Also, after yesterday’s wobbles I sat her down and explained what was acceptable and what wasn’t. I’ve agreed to a toddler non-leak style cup for water or milk only for in her room but she must fetch it out with her every morning to be washed. Otherwise it will be thrown away and not replaced. I have a drink by my bedside so that’s fair (and a non-leak cup is essential for her to avoid sogginess…) I have pointed out that cuddles are nice but I’m not intending to allow her unfettered access to me 24/7 and hit and run cuddles are to be replaced with sidle up gently and wander off ones! I think I was just a bit over-got with it all last night!
Well, I’ve a busy day tomorrow - it’s enrollment for 2 of my Rainbows and I’ve never done a Promise Party before so I need to get some beuty sleep!!

Now that’s the best excuse for having a decent, varied and sizeable yarn stash I’ve ever heard!
