T-Bird Anni Rides Again

the rest of the day

Well, I made fairly good use of the morning and got most of hte Rainbow stuff polished off, printed off and filed.

Browsed yarns trying to decide what to knit a Pi Shawl in as I fancy doing something a little more elegent than my wonderfully snug but not so elegent shawl (for those times when multicoloured and deformed from repeated washings are just not going to fit with the rest of the outfit!!!)  I suspect I will end up with a pure wool yarn which is slightly scary as then we are into the relms of being careful with washing or else ending up with a felted drinks mat  but the other options are £££ and I don’t do expensive knitting.

Delt with phone calls, cuddled cat, ate Lebkuchen and drank coffee. Chatted on the phone to a home ed family the other side of Manchester who are fancying Sonlight.  I think I talked them out of spending megabucks on the supa-dupa comes with everything version (which you *really* don’t need at "pre-k" or core B as tehy are calling it these days)  Sigh, you know, we still use some of those pre-k books for bedtime stories and for her to try to read to me now.  It’s by far my fave set (K was lovely and Core 1 is facinating but let’s face it, you can’t beat baby books for nostalgia ;-)   )

Tehn Aprilia came home, Harley visited to ramble about something (slightly worrying how he is rambly at the mo, I mean, I’m normally rambly, no one would think it odd but he’s not.  I think he’s lonely :-(   ) and eventually I got my girlie all to myself again!  Having missed on so much Mummy Time she wanted stories in bed (at 3pm….) so I obliged and we Roman Mystery-ed  Harry Potter-ed for just over an hour until my brain refused to function any longer.  Duke rescued me by the simple method of ticking her into submission

She took herself off to bed well before 7pm with a demand for stories from Daddy so, seeing as she had gone up so early he obliged her with a full chapter of HP5.  Which reminds me, we are now getting awfully close to Decision Time.  Do we read her the last 2 books?  I’m really not sure but then I wasn’t sure about book 4 and she has just lapped that one up.  We’ve created a monster….

busy busy!

Well, yesterday started and ended in a fairly leisurely fashion….. not sure I can say the same for the middle bit though!

Picture the scene…. you are snuggled up under a warm duvet with a warm and cuddly child and a warm and purring cat.  You are just thinking it may be time to part company with the duvet for some breakfast when the phone rings… "Hiya, did you forget us then?"  OOPS!  not so much forgotten as totally misunderstood when we were next going to JJs!  Cue mad dash for clothes, a promise of toast at JJs and rapid drive accross town!   Of course it’s still school holidays so the place is chaos but hey ho.

After a few hours there the noise got too much for us all so we gave up.  On the way home I went to pick up a parcel for Aprilia.  Now, is it just me or is it a bit stupid to have a Post Office depot where people need to go to collect parcels with no public parking spaces on a road with double yellows for 2 miles in both directions????  Duke normally parks there regardless of it saying "staff only" but last time I tried that I got a strip torn off me.  The parcel was 2 books that she had won in a competition on the Guides website which got her really rather excited.

After that excitement it was swimming.  I had invited A and L to join us which turned out to be a great idea.  The two girls had a riot, it’s the most smiling and giggling I’ve ever seen L do and Aprilia having someone to play with meant I could actually swim.  Then back to ours for a brew at which point the girls hatched a plan for a sleep-over.  There was some debate about who was sleeping over where finally resolved when L pointed out she had more TV channels than we do    So I pulled out a sleeping mat and sleeping bag, packed her stuff and off she went without a backwards glance (sigh, I do worry about her being to attached to me to enjoy socialising oportunities…. NOT!)

So last evening I spent several undisturbed hours sorting out Rainbows for next term, found I had the wrong phone number for someone on my waiting list (not sure what I can do about that), ordered Adventure Box magazine for Aprilia, turned the compost on my desk, got the household accounts up to date and then had a nice hot shower and settled back under that (now slightly chilly) duvet with a warm purring cat, a book but no warm cuddly child.
