cos I won’t let him go out to play with his pals tonight.
Now, in my defence, he fell asleep this morning over his breakfast, was woken by Aprilia at just past 8 (by which time he should already ahve been at his bench) and declared himself to have a bad head. So back to bed for Daddy instead of work. Now, when I was a kid the rule was if you were too poorly to go to school you are too poorly to go out and play. I suspect a similar rule applies to owrk, especially when you are planning to go and play at the local pub where several of your workmates regularly drink. So I told him he really, really shold not go out. H e (very reluctantly) agreed.
I then compounded my wickedness by suggesting that, seeing as the phone line was now good but the internet is still bad, it may be something to do with our modem thingie. I do know that htis has happened with more than one person when using one of those provided by the ISP type things (which tend to be at the cheaper end of the market) Troulbe is that nothing is simple in our house so swapping the modem thing then required re-doing all the settings on 2 out of 3 of the PCs (Aprilia’s Linux one sorted itself out without any help naturally….) which was a 10 minute job for his XP one and an infuriating 2 hours until we sorted out the ******* Vista one. Which reminds me, Jax, do you still have a legit XP disc I can cadge off you?
Anyway, education happened today, mainly when I read to her in the bath but hey, it happened! She also painted happily for most of the day (hence the requirement for a bath) whilst listening to the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe as a talking book. Oh, and she found a stash of Magic Key comics and had a crack at some of the stuff in those. One year on and it’s still too hard for her although she still loves the stories. By the time she can read them they will be too young for her. but I’m NOT worrying, I’m determinedly not worrying…. no really….. oh well, maybe just a shade but there is progress even if not the explosion into reading that Monte promised me!
