T-Bird Anni Rides Again

Right, upbeat post required

will see how I can do!

the BT man cometh again today.  Then the digger men came and filled in our hole so now I can reverse out of my drive without fearing plummeting into the hole (it’s right at the edge of teh drive and I’m not the world’s best reverser!)  This BT man decided it wasn’t anything to do with the junction in the road (which, incidentally the hole was in teh wrong place to get at anyway    ) but down to a loose wire in the box on teh wall.  We now have a speed of 4Gig on the internet and a phone with only a little crackle so much improoved even if Duke doesn’t think it’s as good as it could be (hey, I’ll take good enough over not working any day!!!)

We had a very pleasant swim today, the water seemed to be extra warm and soothing on tired limbs although not condusive to any genuine excercise (think huge bath but without bubbles!)

I got my set texts for my next course in the post and did that sharp intake of breath thing at the size of one of them!  Turned out I was crying before I was hurt, it’s only (only???) 800 pages but thick paper so it looked more.  May need a magnifyer for the font size mind you    I shall be playing with my book scanner some time soon to digitise a chapter at a time for easy reading and pasting of references into essays.  First I will find the instructions for how to digitise whole books whilst keeping chapters "bookmarked" with my scanner - can’t be too hard surely?

Aprilia’s Christmas gifts are all now stowed away, she’s got her DS plus a Suduko game and Big Brain Academy to go with it.  Likewise Duke’s pressie (books from Amazon and a clever little torch to clip onto his uniform)  I’ve picked out something for his sister but want to browse a bit more in case I find anything else from the same site, his mum is sorted, my mum is half sorted (sigh aparently I can’t give her stricknin laces chocolates…) the small neices are sorted.  I suspect i could get there on time if I keep this up.

There have been concerted attempts at Sonlighting, it struck me that we have just about finished week 9 which is not far off right really so I need to stop fretting don’t I.

the house is disapearing under a blizard of paper snowflakes.  We need to decide what to do with them all, i don’t think we have enough window space….

There, upbeat.  Not a wail in sight.  That’s better.

Oh Bu**er!

Harley got the all clear from the cardiac people on Tuesday meaning that we now know that his illness wasn’t a heart attack which is good news.  Somewhat surprising I have to say (cos anyone who abuses their body like he did in past years does not deserve to be taht fit!!)  However that still doesn’t tell anyone what it actually was that made him collapse in teh first place, nor does it mean that the problems he’s been having with being high one minute and desperately low the next have gone away.  And it doesn’t explain the "greying out" spells taht he didn’t tell anyone about originally cos he didn’t want to worry us….. But that’s okay isn’t it?  He’s fit to go back to work now we know it’s not cardiac…..

He’s just been here for a couple of hours talking round in circles about having to go back to work on Monday adn how he doesn’t know how he’s going to cope.  The doc had originally said that they would get the cardiac tests out of the way first then start trying ADs until they found a winning formula then do phased return to work but no, he’s just signed him off as fit with a pat on the back and a suggestion to look into cognative behavioural therapy to help him find ways to deal with the stress.  He’s managed to cut down to 5 or less cigarettes a day over the last 6 months, no patches, gums or whatever, just gradually cut himself down but somehow I can’t see that lasting more than a week once he’s back to it.  Hope I’m worng but I dont’ think so :-(
