drawing stuff

I’ve updated my crafty blog with a few scans of what I’ve been drawing this last few days.  I’m working through "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" which is being very interesting so far.  There have been up-side-down drawings to copy (stops you saying "oh look, it’s a horse, this is how I draw a horse" and makes you look at what you are actually really drawing!) and now it’s using a clear "window" of acetate as a viewfinder which you trace the image onto before transfering it to paper.  Sounds odd but it’s just a way to con your brain into looking at a 3D object and translating it into a 2D drawing.  Obviously the book explains it much better than that….

it’s being very enjoyable so far adn it’s giving me a rather interesting experience - that of being pleased with something I’ve done.  Well, okay, so I’m often reasonably happy with sewing and yarn craft products but they don’t count, any fool can do that can’t they???  (cough, yes, you can, obviously assuming you have TIME!!)  Feeling good about something on a bit of paper is new, and I like it!

In other news, we have swum (swam?) and puzzled and then she "read" some more of Cat in the Hat to me whilst it gradually dawned on me that she’s been listening to that book over and over on a CD at night time hence the aparent sudden leap forward in reading skills!!!  Actually that’s something I’m encouraging her to do as I know it’s one way of helping nearly-readers as they can follow the words and hear them so make the associations gradually without huge loads of effort.   So all I need now it to rig up a bedside table so she can follow her **** Carnival Fairy book a chapter at a time and stop the CD at the end of a chapter rather than leaving it playing for an hour or so after it’s lulled her to sleep.
