T-Bird Anni Rides Again

successful-ish kinda day

Aprilia was sleepy this morning due to her staying up playing in her room waaaay tooooo late last night so we took things easy mainly.  We needed to head into town to get her toothpaste (she hates minty ones so she has the Kingfisher fennel one from the health food shop) and grabbed some arnica at the same time.  Now, I am really not terribly convinced by homeopathy, it doesn’t really fit into my "prove it then" mentality because you can’t really run a clinical trial on some random selection of bods and get exactly the same effect on all of them.  However, over the years arnica has effected some miraculous "cures" on Aprilia when she’s been dying of various mortal injuries (well, okay then, so when she’s bumped herself and is wailing loudly….) and as she’s doing a lot of mortal injuries at the moment I thought I’d grab some to make her feel like I am doing something to make her feel better….

After that we got the sofa bed out and had reclined "school" which she did fairly well with.  Then she watched a bit of TV whilst I got ready for Rainbows.

Rainbows was fun today.  It was the first one I have done without my "moral support" already qualified leader and I hvae to say I think it went better for it.  There was no feeling of "who’s running this group then?" and the parent helpers were quick to tell me that it was obvious taht the girls had all had fun and that I had enjoyed it too.  We went outside to grab leaves to do rubbings from to keep everyone busy whilst me and the "junior leader" (she’s a guide and she’s universally adored by all the girls) took 3 at a time outside to pot up some crocuses.  Now, why we bothered doing it outside I’m not sure, several tonnes of bulb fibre still got tracked round the hall anyway but hey ho!

Duke reduced Aprilia to giggles when we got home, I asked her to go upstairs, take off her uniform, hang it up and put her other clothes back on.  Before she could turn to go upstairs Duke turned to me and in exactly the same tone gave me exactly the same instructions…. somehow it amused her…. actually I think Duke just wanted me out of the rugby shirt - he hates rugby shirts and pulled no punches in pointing out exactly what he thought of it when I bought it but it was that or the delightful blue, red and white stripey blouse…. no contest!
