T-Bird Anni Rides Again

why every time Nic leaves me a comment it goes to moderation????  No one else does, after you’ve been modded the first time you just go stright through to the blog but for some reason my blog has taken a dislike to Nic!

we are both developing colds here, it’s not a pretty sight.  Lots of things are being vaguely irritating, made worse by all happening at once whilst I am developing a cold obviously.

On the plus side, I have had it confirmed that I hve a home exam with my own PC which will make life easier in so many ways.  And I have had a play with the scanner and OCR software that I ws given and it’s so much better than any I’ve tried before - I scanned 40 pages of close written text, some of which was poor quality photocopies, and found barely any mistakes in it.

We have been doing a bit of tandem reading today, I just wanted her to feel that there was a light at the end of the phonics tunnel by reading something with a real bona fide story in it.  It was a simple enough story but nothing she would be able to manage on her own, and very "un-phonic" in places, so me reading slowly and asking her to join in with as much as she could made it managable. She enjoyed it and managed reasonably well with it all so we shall be doing a bit more of that.  I have a good stash of books on that level and they are all so beutifully illustrated taht it’s a shame to have them languishing on the shelf. 

Rainbows went well again although I do feel that the mentor I’m assigned to is running it all with me being trailed along.  It’s a bit irritating but I suspect she doesn’t even realise she’s doing it.  It is interesting though seeing the different way she does things to how the previous leader did although we hve vetoed the idea of her teaching us the all new Rainbow song that "all Rainbows sing all over the country"  That may well be sweetie but it’s far too complicated to learn all at once and we prefer our simple one sung to the tune of Frere Jacque any day! 

Well, really must pretend to do a bit of revison so off I go 

finished Poples of the World (although according to SL we are supposed to briefly discuss a selection of the peoples listed at teh back of the book for the next 2 days…"oh look, in Albania the people are called Albanians, they speak …. and their currency is…."  I don’t think so!)
