I was bidding on a treadmill (hey, it was only £1, I figured I’d pay up to £5 for it!!) on EBay and got pipped at the last second by someone who bid £5:50.  Never mind.  It did make Duke clear the corner where it would have gone so all is not lost!

The Next Course

Well, only 2 weeks left of this one so I’ve booked for more punishment in January!  I’m doing Medicine and Society in Europe 1500-1930 which looks interesting!  Revision is something I really have no idea how to do, and it’s not being helped just now by a certain small girl developing limpit-like qualities that mean that not only can I not do a thing til past her bedtime but that by the time I finally scrape her off me I’m shattered.  Ho hum.  Back to it then.

one fish, two fish…

You know, i don’t like taht book nearly as much as I like Green Eggs and Ham.  But it has lots of good words in it and she’s read the first 1/3 of it today so I shall lern to love it.  Or grit my teeth and smile at any rate.  She’s having a bit of a surge with reading, perhaps not exploding into it Montesori style but at the very lest lurching forward a bit!  It  makes me wonder what I’ll do with my time once we aren’t spending hours labouriously doing the learning to read thing - coo, the possibilities are endless!

Meanwhile I’m still trying to revise but she’s being rather dependent just now which is leaving me precious little time during the day and precious little energy by teh time I scrape her off me at bedtime.  Next course I do I’m going to take more notes.  Under headings.  Themes.  Topics.  May even buy exam papers before I start so I get the idea of how the exam works before I start.  This back tracking through 9 months of stuff to find 3 perfect texts on a common theme thing is a pain in the whotsits!

As I type, incidentally, Aprilia is reciting the script of HP 1 - it’s the scene where they are on the Wizard Chess board and Ron is about to sacrifice himself to get the other 2 safely over.  Shall we apply gloss over the fact that she is supposed to be going to sleep???

wher did the week go?

Aprilia is a little under the weather with a cough that is disturbing her at night and now a muscle in spasm in her neck and shoulder making movement very unpleasant for her (suspect she’s pulled it with a particularly ferrocious coughing fit last night)  And yes, it’s def a muscle, have done all meningitis checks on reflex teh moment she announed her nek was so stiff she couldn’t move…. she did have me worried when she complained of cold hands and feet though (until I noticed that it was actually **** cold in our living room and she was in shorts and a vest!)

Monday we bought a trampette which has had a lot of use already although it is a bit awkward to stow out of the way!

Last night at Rainbows they made masks and a lot of mess emoticon.  Home from there I realised that I’d not put the slow cooker on early enough so we fell back to fish finger butties for tea rather than casserole!  Then it was off to a Witches Coven, sorry I mean a Guider’s meeting, where I was treated to a magnificent display of philibustering to make the meeting go on far longer than necessary purely to make the District Commisioner (boss type girl) late for the pub quiz she was headed for straight afterwards    Interesting meeting though.  I may have an assistant by Christmas which would be good, someone offered to help out but not to have the main responsibility so she can come and play with us any time!

"school stuff" is plodding along in a routinely uneventful way but I do suspect that she may actually be getting the hang of this reading business you know….

a question for those who know these things

Having now taken industrial sized doses of Folic Acid for nearly 4 years now "just in case", can I assume I’m fully saturated and just rely on what you get in a normal multi vit plus a general B vit sup (which I take anyway to try to keep awake all day) or do I really need to keep going with the folate?  Seems sort of futile in a "hey, it could be this month, well, not really but you never know" sort of way.
