pondering tents

The more I think about it the less sense it makes for just me adn Aprilia to haul the Hobbit Hole with us Off the Path this weekend.  I’ts a pig to put up in anything above a stiff breeze and more so to take down as it flaps up in your face.  it weighs a significant ammount too which considering it’s going to need lugging into the car here, lugging out of it and either into the Off the Path mobile to get it onto the field or just carried on is a bit of a pain.  Still love it mind you and for a week in a wet field it’s fab because there’s enough space to be comfortable but for a couple of nights when there’s a warm house a few strides away?  Hmmm.

So I’m going to grab this whilst it’s on half price offer.  It’s reserved adn I just need to go and pick it up at a less Godforsaken hour of the morning.

As for why I am blogging before 6 am…. I have no idea!  I’ve been awake over an hour and just couldn’t settle then started brooding tent related stuff adn figured I may as well surface adn deal with it!

  2. have tent now, I’m hoping it will be okay but I guess only time will tell. Wish it wasn’t hurling it down so I could at least get it put up on the garden and hose-pipe test it.

To be fair, if it turns out to be a bit average rather than half decent at under £40 it makes a damned good refuge for on all day duties rather than cluttering up the ambi and we’ll do a bit more considered research into a better job!

I will be fetching the spare guys and eyelets in case we need to storm rig it though!!!

  3. I don’t think you can go too far wrong at that price.

  4. I’ve just dashed out between showers and had a trial run putting it up. Would someone now explain to me why I’ve been fighting with a dome tent for years when it’s so ***** easy to put up a tunnel one????? 4 equal sized poles all easily installed whilst the tent is flat on the ground, peg down one end, good firm tug at the other end and hey presto a tent!! One person, 10 minutes and the basic form was there, just needed pegging down. Do they make cathedral sized tunnels???

  5. I’ve have just been thinking the same thing while putting down our new dome. Tunnels are just so much easier.

  6. haven’t you ever watched me putting our vista up on my own then? They make 8 berth vistas and I can’t imagine you’d actually need that much space :)

Oh, and if there’s a wind and you peg the correct end, it’ll put itself up. (and if there’s a wind and you unpeg the wrong end, it’ll put itself down too….)
