Things Aprilia wants to do/leran

Sign language - well, yes, we could all do with learnign that as it’s a bit useful within the Red Cross!  Have found a couple of books to do this with and am also wondering about doing it with Rainbows as a quicky activity salted throughout the term rather than as a concerted effort.

Drawing - sparked by my latest efforts she wants to be able to draw too.  Could be a bit tricky though as the book I have seems to think it’s best to wait until there is a bit more co-ordination.  Wondering about one of those specifically children’s drawing things?  Can’t afford DWN but maybe Drawing with Chilren?  Any thoughts?

Do music - sigh, this is going to be hard, she really wants to learn the violin but I suspect I’m not destined to teach her.  I just can’t seem to explain the bow hold right to her at all.

Faith - she sort of grew out of the Bible reading system we were using and it’s taken me far too long to find a replacement.  It arrived last week and she was extatic which sort of took me a bit by surprise.  I was brought up in a family who were nominally Christian but I didn’t find any "use" for faith until I was in my teens.  I suppose her experience is quite different from mine as we are active in the local church but still it surprised me that she would be so excited to be back to daily Bible reading and guided prayers.  Nice though.

More practical science - I’m getting back properly to Sonlight this time after pausing for a year as I felt Core 1 was too much for her last year so that will include science every week.  Must remember to stick with it!

Play barns - She loves going to playbarns and there is a local one now that has a "frequent flyer" scheme so I’ve suggested to the one other local Home Ed family that we should go regularly to allow our demented offspring somewhere dry and "safe" to cahrge arround like loons.

Beat me on Big Brain Acadamy - well, this of course depends on 2 things…. first we need to buy 2 DSs so we can play against each other, then I need to buy the games!  Aparently there is a place in the next town that sells them second hand for £60ish re-furbed which is a much better deal than £80 off Ebay which seems to be the going rate once you add in posting.

Collect the entire Fairy Magic collection - shudder, only another 4 sets to go (until the next set of course…)

So that lot should keep us out of mischeif for a bit (and that’s before I add in what I want her to do, you know, get the hang of reading, work out what those hangars in her wardrobe are for…..) and some of it may even impress the LEA lady should I feel the need to impress her!

  2. it’s hard getting into the flow isn’t it? At least you have a valid excuse for being a bit less organised last year with all the house moving and upheaval, I’ve just been distracted and bumping along fairly limply

  4. Did I show you/ have you seen elsewhere Drawing with Children? If not I can bring it at the weekend? I quite like it, although we’ve only done one lesson and then, as is often the case, life got in the way.
