is it me?

Acording to the Romantics, art is not about imitation but a manifestation of the activity of the imagination or spirit… when it comes to painters they say ….(quoting from text book)!– @page { margin: 2cm } P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm } –>

Painters might superficially be taken to be artists whose business is to imitate visible forms. Not so: the medium an artist uses in order to communicate to us his/her spiritualized experiences is accidental. In order to communicate at all in this world we need some medium of communication, some ’symbolic language’, as Novalis puts it here. It can be words, musical sounds, paint on canvas, shaped marble (and so on for all the materials used by artists): it follows from the view of reality and the imagination we are considering that the medium is ultimately unimportant. What matters is the spiritual/imaginative experience conveyed by it, and this message can be conveyed in a number of different media.

but they ARE IMITATING SOMETHING THEY SEE FFS!!!!  Okay I’ll grant them abstract art but landscape?  Portrait?  How is that not copying????  HELP!

I am coming very close to just writing any old tosh for this one and invoking the "substitution rule" that means your lowest score is substituted for an average of the rest…..  Surely she will give me 5 points for spelling my name right?
