Duke had an "interview" on Tuesday to do the home from hospital work that the private ambi company was doing but for the Red Cross (who do actually pay up rather than giving out rubber cheques although not always on time!) It’s a fixed salary rather than pay per job and the contract runs until Christmas. He’s keeping his day job as there are no assurances of it being permanent but it means that for hte next 6 months our income will be double what it is now.
Add that to having fianlly sorted out closing both endowments and replacing them with much cheaper life ins making us better off by the surrender values of the policies plus about £50 a month that was going into them and things are looking really quite dandy.
Then I got a letter this morning from Powergen. We are in credit by a little over £400 as I keep forgetting to adjust our payments down after clearing the huge debt we ran up between me using the tumble dryer too much, Duke thinking that turning hte heating up rather than putting a jumper on was a good idea (and I mean up to 25C on the hallway thermostat which turned the bedrooms into ovens!!) adn no one knowing what off switches were for. So they are going to refund me and adjust the payments!
And the sun is shining! I have washing on the line not round the house!
And I had a good gossip with Harley on the phone yesterday adn he actually sounds like himself again after goodness knows how long of sounding like Victor Meldrew in a bad mood.
Life is good for a change!
