T-Bird Anni Rides Again

I need to re-instigate my ranty blog!!!

Just thought I’d check up on some details for a duty we are lumbered with for tomorrow.  It’s one I said last year we weren’t doing again due to the noise and the number of drunks adn morons we had to deal with.  We did manage to shift today’s stint to someone else but thanks to internal politics and someone who has yet to learn to ask the people who know before saying things, we are covering tomorow.

All hte event info round town says it starts at 11am.  The sheet we got when the duty was booked says 11am adn that it is a fair (ie stalls, bouncy castles etc) with music acts on a main stage (so every teenager with a cheap copy of a Fender and an amp gets up there to rapturous aplause from their mates and screams down the mike emoticon. ) They didn’t mention the troupe dancing starting at 10am, nor the it’s a knock out at mid day.  And to cap it all on the really professionally done website (not) they say the first aid cover is provided by the St John ambulance.  Now, i’ve been covering this festering duty for the last 4 years and last time I looked the uniform had these funny little red plus signs on the shoulders….. actually, maybe we just won’t go, they can complain to the SJA for lack of cover then can’t they…..

Sigh, I’ll take my knitting, keep the county on call staff number handy for when we run out of ice packs and bandages for red legged troupe dancers and remind myself that worse things happen at sea    At least we have an air conditioned ambi to keep cool in.

Thoughtful gift choice

it was a birthday party day today.  It was for a girl at church who to be honest I had no idea of how old she was (turned out she’s 7, have to say she looks much older than that - all tall and elegent) so I didn’t think our staple gift of a Pretty Pony toy was going to hit the spot!  So I sugggested The Works for somethign craft related ad Aprilia chose a set of water colours not quite as posh as mine (have I mentioned how yummy my water colours are???) but still resonable and a pad of A5 water colour paper which came to just a little over our normal budget but I was so proud of her not chosing some glittery tat that I got it anyway!

The party was at a place we have been to lots of times for birthdays of a local home ed family.  It’s just a sport hall iwth a HUGE bouncy castle adn loads of soft play shapes.  It’s very good as there is space for the kids to run round adn you could fit half the population of Cheshire on the castle!  Not sure that all that bouncing was a good idea on such a hot day though…. I’ve never seen so many scarlet children in one place

The thing was slightly spoilt by the child from Hell though.  Typically the only one there who was dropped off rather than having a parent stay with them which meant it was left to everyone else to police her as she randomly pushed over, pinched, smacked and threw things at the other kids.  I was half tempted to tell Aprilia to shove back after the third time she had been shoved over (and anyone who knows my dainty darling will know what a feet it is to tip her over!)  but I sort of got the feeling that she just didn’t "get" what she was doing wrong, dunno, maybe I’m being a bit charitable but she gave the impression of being a 7 year old toddler somehow.

Not content with all that excitement, we then lurched on to the fair which is in town for the weekend.  Ten minutes later we had blown our £5 and headed home with candy floss stuck round our mouths emoticon  I do love a bit of candy floss….
