T-Bird Anni Rides Again

Pleasantville

Today has indeed been a lovely sunshiney day.

She has played out with the kids in the street.

She has got plenty of use out of the family supersoaker water pistol thing (we shall gloss over the setting me up to be soaked by one of next door’s little darlings shall we…. I shall have my revenge on both of them!!!)

She has read a little bit and Starfalled a little bit.

I have got a new hammock for the frame (thanks to those wonderful people at Lidl!) and  a week’s shopping for £45 including some fair trade choccie and sugar.  I like Lidl!

I got 3 loads of washing dry so I no longer have a back log.

I have set up the mind maps for all the exam topics so that I can add stuff to them a bit at a time to amke revision easy.  Well, okay, not all the exam topics, I’ve alredy decided I’m not doing Napoleon as the text for that rendered me unconcious every time I attempted to read more than a page at a time.  There are plenty of other options that mean I don’t have to write about that little man.

I hvae also been very brave adn phoned people so now I know that a) I’ve been aproved for "DSA" and they are in the process of sending all the details to a "needs assessor" in my area adn b) Region have now got a copy of my ed psych report so I need to fill in 1 little form to say what I would like as extra for my exam and they will sort it all out.

After that rather trying week or so when Aprilia was welded in my face I’m happy to report that whatever had unsettled her is obviously done with and she is now back to dismissing me so she can watch the TV in peace.  Now I can catch up on my books!

Short Changed

Filed under: Aprilia, Daft bird, Life

yesterday there was a sense of us all being short changed in the Riding household.  Aprilia was with Lola for the day and was supposed to have gone to see Dave Benson Philips as it was on at the Civic and we cover that building for first aid (so Lola was to be on duty adn just happen to have Aprilia with her)  She has been looking forward to it for months.  There were under 100 tickets sold and the duty manager (not theone who usually does it and knows that for all the **** awful duties we cover we are allowed to indulge in enjoying some of the better ones) dismissed Lola saying that she was not needed thank you very much.  So she got a McD instead which seemed to soften the blow.

Meanwhile I was with Duke in Wales covering a vintage car rally.  We were told from the start that we were invited to dine with the competitors etc  after the stage, I was also told on the phone the day before that there would be pasties etc provided for lunch (the stage went over lunchtime and finished at 3)  Thankfully I NEVER believe anyone who says food is provided.  Ever.  Which was a good job as no pasties appeared and no passes for the function appeared (entry by pass only you understand - posh rally, posh everything)  Passes did appear for the paramedic and his grandson though so nothing new there, the "professionals" who get paid ££££ get the free food, the idiots who are in the volentary services get lots of good healthy fresh air and a free teeshirt (same as last year’s free teeshirt)  ParaPaul however, felt very embarrassed about the whole situation and bought us tea from the local bakery which was rather pleasant.  I shall gloss over being verbally abused by several locals when asked not to walk up the middle of a live (if sedate) rally stage whilst cars were headed right at them.

However, all that said we did all have good days and Aprilia and I ended it curled up on the sofa watching grown up SpringWatch together until way past her bedtime.  Lola reported that actually she can see a difference in Aprilia’s reading but really didn’t know how I kept up with her all day (which of course I don’t, that’s what TV and PC time is for isn’t it!)  Duke reported that Aprilia has declared she needs to "get reading fast, I only have 2 week’s worth of fairy books for bedtime stories left" So I predict a sudden surge in reading effort some time in the next week

Today the sun is shining (yipeee) and I am going to attempt to get every last scrap of washing dry outside (then add it to the mountain of clean but un-sorted washing!)
