sense of acheivement
Not only did I get a whole heap of study done today whilst Aprilia was off on a church outing but I also did this
All because I was given a rather lovely set of watercolours and a pad of the special "paper" but was totally afraid of "spoiling" a full page so I did some practice doodles that we can use for face painting at the church summer fair next month!
It was an incredibly therapeutic experience, I spent about an hour just curled up with the pad on my lap and just played. I love the way the colours washed over the page in the "landscape" ones when I used a bit more water. I loved the way the red of the sun gently bled out into the colour wash. I love the way taht less water gave me a lovely rich, dense colour to fill in the details once the background was dry-ish. I loved using decent brushes that let the paint flow smoothly. Can you tell how much I enjoyed it all? i don’t remember water colour blocks being so richly coloured when I was a kid, actually, I suspect they weren’t, they would have been cheap, kids ones with cheap, kids brushes. No wonder kids don’t think they are any good at art!
Next time, its a big seascape/sunset (well, okay, a full A5 page, hey, I’ve got to start somewhere!) with maybe a few mountains down the sides. I can see it in my head, I just need to learn how to let it get out. Does that make sense?
