so near and yet so far….
I phoned to book camp today. had everything to hand and the money is sat in the bank waiting to wing it’s way down to them. Rachael is on holiday until Monday though, and it HAS to be Rachael that does it as aparently no one else is capable of such a herculean task as applying a group discount
Never mind, the lady checked and there’s still plenty of space in the non-hook-up area so she doesn’t see a problem (good job, I’d gate crash anyway if they said there was no space…..) and I’m now getting to the point of getting just a tad excited about the whole thing.
We did "dolly ed" again today with Alisha and Lucy aiding and abetting my dearest nutty child through her work. Frankly, if acting the fool with a pair of cabage patch dolls is what it takes to get her to do the work then I’m not going to balk! She did the stuff that caused total melt down the other day without batting an eyelid, and did some copy work, and counted in 10s up to 100 and read to me (sorry, read to the dolls
) She played out in the rain for about an hour just peddling up and down on her bike and then there was Rainbows.
Okay, ranty alert….
Now, today was meant to be her Promise Party. I had this sprung on me last week when I picked her up adn she has been at fever pitch about it, reciting her promise to anyone who will listen etc for the whole week. She insisted on freshly laundered and IRONED! uniform which I was happy to do for The Big Day. However, one of the other girls who was supposed to be enrolled tonight couldn’t come (and with only a week’s notice I suppose that was bound to happen) so I got phonecall today to say it’s postponed til next week. I am not impressed. Aprilia is not impressed. What has made it worse is that Aprilia is a bit wobbly about how the whole thing is happening anyway. The girls have not been asked what they would like to do despite the book they get given saying that they can help plan their party with the leader and Aprilia wanting me and Duke there to see it, and wanting to do it outdoors (there is a Guiding place near here, they went there the other week adn it would have been perfect - all dressed up in Rainbow colours, big painting on the walls, lots of activities, outdoors…. in other words, perfect for what she wanted and had I known what was going to happen I would have asked for her to do her promise there……) Parents are not invited but we can pop in for the last few minutes if we would like to. It is being held at the hut where the normal meetings are and it’s just going to be a bit of a party tea type thing. If they didn’t want the girls to have choice why give them a booklet that tells them all the great choices they could have?
Sigh, can you tell I’m pre-menstrual???
