the Romans are invading!
Courtessy of Our Island Story we are now doing a Roman project. She wants a new Roman costume and for us to do a banquet and is currently curled up on teh sofa with Duke watching "what the Romans did for us" on DVD.
We picked up a little book and game set in The Works today with loads of "sound bites" on Romans in the book and a game where if you land on a "Gladiator square" you have to pick up a card and answer the question to move forward. the cards have a "find the answer on page …. of the book" bit which naturally meant we spent a lot of time reading bits out of the book! Not sure if that’s good or bad as it meant we only read snippits off a selection of pages but as I consider education at this age to be more about building up the "brain muscles" than learning specifics I’m sure she won’t miss out too much!
I think I have some "Then and Now" type books somewhere in the Sonlight stash with some Roman stuff in and am wondering if I can make up a simple phonic-ish story or two for her somehow (you know, giver her an incentive to read and all that!)
