Picnicing and painting
today the sun shone so we had picnic lunch in the garden (wearing coats still, it’s sunny but not THAT warm!) which was pleasant. I spent a bit more time hacking through the patch where the runners will be again and removing horsetail by the bucketload. Just need Duke to shift a bit of timber out of the way so that I have a clear run with the wheelbarrow to transfer the contents of the compost bins to the patch, dig it over a bit and cover with the spent square bed mix from last year. we are moving the square beds so we may as well start over with a fresh mixing.
then the clouds rolled over and we headed indoors. We had a game of Dora Scrabble then she got hte paints out whilst I read to her. she’s still liking the Island Story and in fact it’s inspired her to want to do a little project on Romans. Pinting carried on the entire afternoon, I settled on the sofa with my study books and got on with it whilst she was happy.
Dad phoned tonight and wanted to know how I had got on at that "OU thing you were doing in Wilmslow" so I took a deep breath and explained what it was, bigged up the bit about it’s thanks to my excellent education that I managed to overcome my difficulties (well I didn’t feel like saying that the school refused to take me seriously when I asked if I may be dyslexic and informed me I just needed to apply myself more…) and bragged about my wonderfully high scores on the IQ test. There was a pause and a rapid change of subject so that went about as well as can be expected. I assume at some point there will be a "so how can you teach Aprilia if you are dyslexic then?" but I’ll treat that with the contempt it deserves, show them my OU "homework" marks and change the subject.
