how to avoid an early night…
"Mummy! I’ve not done my reading today!"
"You haven’t done it all week dear, it’s time for bed now, plenty of time for reading tomorrow"
"But mummeeeee, I neeeeed to do it!"
So she read through 2 phonic type readers, a couple of Alphabuddies books and made a fair attempt at a high frequency word book. She was all for carrying on in a "taht was easy mummy, I need to do another one" sort of manner (with one eye on the clock which was rapidly heading towards 9!) but I bribed her with a promise of chocolate spread sandwichs for supper (non of us were hungry at tea time… we had a HUGE lunch out) which seemed to do the trick.
Funny isn’t it how 1 week they act like you are murdering them with 1 page of a book and then all of a sudden they devour whole booklets at a time!

If it’s getting to bedtime C has been known to develop a massive enthusiam for pages and pages of written maths.
