I dunno, second time she goes to RAinbows and she comes home with the **** doll for the week!  She needs to do something exciting with it then write about it in the book.  Hmph.  Actually it’s times like this I feel inadequate as all the schooled children are able to make a passable attempt at writing whereas w are still waiting for it to happen here.  And yes, i KNOW that’s why we are home edding so she CAN do things when she is good and ready and not when school says she should be able to but it still feel it.

However, she has proved to me today that she’s pretty damned capable with maths by playing a maths game on the PC that involved subtraction which we have only really touched on with puzzles.  Also she parroted her 10 times table (yeah, I know, not really that big a deal once you can count to 100 but still, I don’t remember learning times tables at 6!) and having a passable attempt at her 2s    She completed the puzzles with several pages of Getty Dubay book A and a bit of going over the dots handwriting practice.  Somehow she evaded reading by being delightfully engaged in Fimo-ing and PC puzzling.  Not sure if I should be pushing her just a little on this or just gritting my teeth and reminding myself that if we were autonomous/Waldorfy she possibly wouldn’t even have started yet…

  1. Nothing to stop her dictating and you typing it, printing it out and pasting it in. Or she can type it herself should she so wish . . .

Isn’t writing just communicating using the written word but using her IT skills to do so is equally valid imo.
