found some stuff on treating our "guests"…

essential oils of oregano, aniseed or cinnamon leaf dispersed in alcohol (1 drop/10mls vodka)  combed through the hair and left to dry on will kill most of them, washing off the morning after as normal but then rinsing with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water with a good shot of the dispersed oils mixed in should mean that you nuke the lot although it does say taht you need to comb daily and repeat a week later so maybe their 100% mortality rate is cumulative?  Aparently Tea Tree is "only" about 90% effective.

Hmm, won’t be trying vodka on Aprilia but wondering about a preventative going over on my tresses, I rather like cinamon oil so I could definitely live with smelling of it, in fact it could be quite festive!

  2. not that much work compared to the 1 hour it took last night to condition-and-nit-comb Becca free of critters….did her again this morning before I washed off last night’s dose of tea tree laced conditioner and found babies but no biggies but ther are still LOADS of eggs. Hoping that conditioner etc will do it for her as I tried the vodka and tea tree trick last night and it wasn’t that pleasant - the vapours made my eyes run and the alcohol found every scratch and raw bit of skin. Stopped me itching though…..

I’ll maybe look at HSJ again in the new year, wonder if I can import the post it note theme here? (http://homeschooljournal.net/wp-content/themes/stickynotes/screenshot.png)
